Profile
Karen Mattison Yabuno is a clinical hypnotherapist certified by the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners  (#108-054) and registered with the state of Washington. She graduated from the Hypnotherapy Academy of America in New Mexico, where she studied with Gil Boyne, the founder of the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, and Tim Simmerman, the author of Medical Hypnotherapy. Karen has also completed advanced training in accelerated healing, pain management, painfree childbirth, and cancer support. She is also a Blissborn Hypnosis Educator, health coach, and health advocate.

Karen became interested in complementary medicine after developing chronic pain and weakness in the hands, which required extended periods of rest and increasing amounts of pain medication. She studied Reiki, acupressure, and other complementary medicine practices before becoming a hypnotherapist. Karen now manages the pain using hypnosis instead of medication. Since chronic pain can greatly impair one's life and lead to depression, Karen is particularly interested in helping clients with pain management.

In addition to her training in complementary medicine, Karen has a BA from the University of California at San Diego and an MA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She lived in Japan for more than 10 years, where she worked as a university lecturer and technical editor/writer before founding Tokyo Hypnotherapy. Karen served as the Outreach Coordinator for the International Mental Health Professionals of Japan and workshop presenter for the Tokyo English Life Line. She is fluent in Japanese.

Testimonials
The pain is gone!
--HY, following dental implant

Hypnosis helped me to control my mind and get rid of the fear that I had from the first childbirth. I was physically and mentally relaxed, positive and cheerful the whole time, and the nurses couldn’t believe how peaceful my childbirth was!
--KH, giving birth to her second child with hypnosis

I wanted to let you know that the session we had together was profound. It really was a re-integration of a part of myself. Thank you.
--MH, coping with anger management

I didn't think I could regain my confidence after I lost my business, but I'm getting ready to launch [another one] next week. Thanks again. I was amazed how quickly you turned things around.
--GB, following economic setback

The session helped me to accept things the way they are. There is a reason why x or y happens, even if we don't see it right now.
--AM, working on self-acceptance

I never realized how much [stress at work] was causing me to smoke. Thanks for teaching me that NLP trick. It has really helped me relax when I'm up against a deadline and I rarely feel the urge to smoke now.
--SH, reducing stress and quitting smoking

The trauma is not completely gone, but I can talk about it now without crying. I used to not even be able to bring myself to talk about it, even though [my daughter] lived.
--LS, overcoming fear after witnessing a near-fatal accident

I can sleep the night before I drive to work now! I knew there must be some connection between the [car] accident and the insomnia, but you helped me find it. I feel so much more rested and productive these days.
--MW, releasing fear that was disrupting sleep
